BPK and ASOSAI Governing Board Members Discuss Strategic Development and Way Forward

Denpasar, Monday (February 13, 2017) – The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) together with ASOSAI Governing Board Members of 11 SAIs discuss strategic development and way forward of the ASOSAI in the 51st ASOSAI Governing Board Meeting in Bali, which takes place from February 13 to 14, 2017. The Chairman of the BPK, Harry Azhar Azis, officially opens the meeting.

There are 11 Governing Board members attending the meeting namely the SAI of India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam, the ASOSAI Audit Committee members namely the SAI of Jordan and Mongolia, and the observers consisting of the SAI of China, IDI and the ASEANSAI.

Several things discussed in the meeting are the ASOSAI Financial Statements Fiscal Year 2016, the draw of multi-year budgeting plan of 2018-2020, the report of ASOSAI capacity development, the progress report of ASOSAI strategic achievement of 2016-2021, the report of ASOSAI Journal, the report of ASOSAI’s cooperation with regional organizations, and the report of ASOSAI’s working groups and committees.

In addition to the improvement of the BPK’s role in the ASOSAI actvities and relationship with other ASOSAI member SAIs, as the member of the ASOSAI Governing Board, the BPK also has a strategic role in contributing to the formulation of ASOSAI policies and strategic decisions. In the meantime, the BPK will also have the opportunity to promote the ASEANSAI’s organization and activities in a bigger forum.

Previously in the 50th Meeting of the ASOSAI Governing Board in Thailand in February 2016, the meeting resulted several things such as the implementation plan of the ASOSAI Strategic Plan of 2016-2021 through the capacity development programs of ASOSAI member SAIs, research and development through e-learning, knowledge sharing improvement among member SAIs, and the implementation of monitoring and evaluation mechanism.

Beside appointing the Chairman of the ASOSAI for the period of 2021-2024 and the ASOSAI Secretary General of 2018-2021, all discussions in the meeting are in line with the ASOSAI purpose to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation among member SAIs.
