BPK and USAID Reorganize the 2018 Film Festival on Securing State Treasures (Festival Film Kawal Harta Negara)

After successfully holding the Film Festival themed Securing State Treasures (FFKHN) last year, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) -CEGAH once again held the film festival for the second time. The launch of the 2018 FFKHN which took place at the National Library Building, Jakarta, today, was opened by the Chairman of BPK, Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara and attended by USAID-CEGAH Representatives, officials of BPK and USAID, as well as participants comprising of students and the public.

During the event, the committee played the short film winning the 2017 FFKHN that tells about the role of society in guarding state treasures. The launching was assembled with various events such as talk show with the BPK (led by the Head of Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau, R. Yudi Ramdan) and a film discussion with the senior filmmaker, Salman Aristo.

Seeing the success of the last year's festival with 176 listed works, it was expected that this year event would be participated by more young people willing to get involved to express their thinking through the film. The 2018 FFKHN seeks to encourage public participation, especially students, filmmakers, and creative communities in Indonesia to submit films that outline outputs, achievements, roles and functions of the BPK in promoting transparency and accountability of the state financial management. "We expected that, through films created by filmmakers, it will increase theb public awareness of the BPK audit reports," the Chairman of the BPK said in his speech

In the 2018 FFKHN, a number of categories were competed, including fiction films, documentaries, and citizen journalism videos. All of these categories are open to students and the public or university students. The submission of participants' work begins today, April 24, 2018 and will be closed on July 31, 2018.

Apart from film competition, during the 2018 FFKHN, there will also be a competition of story ideas for each categories. The selected participants will gain production support and production process mentoring by film practitioners, as will also be included as participants of the Film Festival.

After launched in Jakarta, the 2018 FFKHN Roadshow will be conducted in six other cities, namely Aceh, Bandung, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Makassar, and Ambon. For more information and registration, please visit: http://www.bpk.go.id/
