BPK Appointed as the External Auditor of the IAEA 2016-2017

In the 59th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held in Vienna, Austria on September 17, 2015, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) was appointed and assigned as the external auditor of the IAEA for the period of 2016 – 2017.

The IAEA General Conference was attended not only by the Head of the Indonesian Permanent Mission in Vienna, but also joined by Indonesian delegates from the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN), the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), and the BPK, which were headed by the Board Member VI, Bahrullah Akbar. In the conference, Bahrullah got the opportunity to represent the Indonesian Government to deliver his speech in front of 164 representatives of the IAEA member countries. In his speech, Barullah thanked the IAEA for its trust in Indonesia and committed to give a highly qualified audit result of the IAEA financial statements.

The IAEA is an independent organization established on July 29, 1957 aiming at promoting a peaceful use while avoiding the military use of the nuclear energy. The IAEA functions as an inter-governmental forum for scientific and technical cooperation of the peaceful use of the nuclear energy in the world. The IAEA Headquarter is located in Vienna, Austria and has 164 countries as its members.
