BPK Holds a Close Meeting with KPK

The Board of the BPK and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held a meeting discussing the further steps of problems found in the land procurement of the Sumber Waras Hospital involving the regional government of the Jakarta Province. The close meeting conducted on Monday (6/20) at the BPK’s Head Office lasted for an hour with five conclusion agreed by both sides.

In the press conference, the Chair of the KPK, Agus Rahardjo, stated that both were agreed to respect their respective authorities. He added that until now, he has not found any actions breaking the corruption law, so that the problems found in the case of Sumber Waras Hospital has not yet been brought to criminal corruption investigation. However, he also said that his statement does not imply that the KPK rebuts the result of the BPK’s investigative audit. In this regard, the BPK stated that there was irrelevancy in Sumber Waras case, that the regional government of Jakarta Province should follow up the BPK’s audit result. “Although the KPK has not yet found any fraud in the land procurement, the provincial government still has to follow up the BPK’s audit result”, the BPK’s Chairman emphasized. In relation with the different point of view between the BPK and the KPK, he also added that the report of the investigative audit has been handed to the KPK, so that it is now in the KPK’s authority.

Lastly, it was stated that both KPK and BPK will continue to synergize to prevent and combat corruption.
