BPK Inquires Provincial Expenditure Report

Palembang – BPK inquires government of South Sumatera to report the 2014 provincial expenditure report promptly as some bureaus still have not submitted it.

There are several bureaus that have not reported expenditures of 2014 funds, thus we recommend these reports to be completed as soon as possible, said Head of BPK’s Representative Office of South Sumatera I Gede Kastawa to reporters after a courtesy call to Governor Alex Noerdin in Palembang on Wednesday.

As Kastawa said, he is still waiting for the financial statement of the Government of South Sumatera to start the auditing process. Thus, BPK gives the regional government until March to finish reporting their expenditures. Nevertheless, thus far, his office has not found any substantial budget irregularities. According to Kastawa, irregularities found were still within reasonable limits such as weakness in the internal system

Meanwhile, the Provincial Secretary of South Sumatera H. Mukti Sulaiman stated that the Provincial Government will immediately fulfill the request. He promised to finish the report sooner. In addition, they intend to obtain unqualified opinion by frequently evaluating budgeting systems in each department and bureau. “"Inappropriate budgeting will be evaluated every week," he warned.

There are three bureaus that still need to complete the financial statements due to difficulties in collecting data, Sulaiman stated without mentioning the bureau specifically. "If it is necessary, we will add more personnel in order to complete the report," he added. (rin)
