Jakarta, Thursday (June 28, 2018) – The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) supports the importance of literacy on management and accountability of state finances. BPK recognizes the importance and need for public awareness to understand the management and accountability of the state finance, but it is not only through BPK’s audits. This was stated by the Vice Chairman of BPK, Bahrullah Akbar, in his speech at the launch of the BPK’s Research Library of State Financial Management and Accountability at the Head Office of BPK in Jakarta, today.

The public knowledge will be even more developed if supported with good literacy, that they will be more discerning and will actively oversee the management of the state finance. This underlies the making of BPK’s breakthrough to encourage the active role of the public in conducting research on management and accountability of the state finance, that is, with the launching of the Research Library located on the first floor of the BPK Head Office. The launching was conducted by the Vice Chairman of BPK accompanied by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti), Ainun Na'im.

The BPK Research Library provides data, information and knowledge on public sector finance consisting of 21,852 copies of books with 17,410 book titles, as well as e-books and e-journals. It also works with the BPK's Information and Communication Center to open the public access to BPK’s audit reports for research purposes.

In this regard, since 2015, BPK has published a Journal of Management and Accountability of the State Finance, which contains related research articles and scientific reviews. The journals can be accessed through the website www.jurnal.bpk.go.id for free without registration, unless the public want to submit articles. During the occasion, the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education represented by the Secretary General also submitted a decree regarding the accreditation of the journal.

After the launch of the Research Library, it was continued with a panel discussion entitled "Literacy of Management and Accountability of the State Finance". The discussion was attended by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mardiasmo, the Head of the National Library, Muhammad Syarif Bando, and the Vice Rector of the University of Indonesia, Adi Zakaria Afiff.
