High Level Visit of the BPK’s Vice Chairman to the ANAO in Canberra, Australia

The Vice Chairman of the BPK, Sapto Amal Damandari, headed the BPK’s delegates in conducting a high level visit to the office of the ANAO in Canberra, Australia. The Auditor General of Australia, Grant Hehir, and the Deputy Auditor General, Rona Mellor, officially welcomed the delegates. The visit becomes an opportunity for BPK and ANAO’s officials to share actual information regarding organizational development in each institution. It was intended to achieve expectations of both SAIs under their cooperation in the next period.

During the discussion, both SAIs shared their information and experiences on audit and organizational quality controls and quality assurance, including design and implementation of governance risk and controls, while also discussed human resource management related with open recruitment, performance measurement and career path from the ANAO and Australian Public Service Commission (APSC)’s perspectives, as well as strategic steps to implement the BPK’s Strategic Plan in achieving national purposes through beneficial and qualified audits. Furthermore, the meeting also discussed the partnership between the BPK and ANAO, both the existing and upcoming broader partnership in 2017, including the next stage of the GPF program.

As the sequence of this visit, the BPK’s delegates also met the office of the Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) in Melbourne, Australia, to exchange opinions and lesson learned regarding the Public Sector Governance – Policy and Corporate Affairs and Public Sector Engagement from the perspective of Australian public institutions, as well as how Australian CPA implements continuing educational program for its accountants.

In this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the BPK was accompanied by the BPK’s Secretary General, Hendar Ristriawan, the Inspector of the Audit Quality Assurance of the BPK, Bernardus Dwita Pradana, the Division Head of International Cooperation, Wahyudi, and a staff of Bilateral Cooperation Sub Division.
