Opening the 2018 BPK Coordinating Meeting, the Chairman Expects a Deeper and Comprehensive Performance Audit

The Chairman of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara, expects BPK to learn from other countries such as America and Australia in terms of performance audits. This was conveyed by the Chairman when opening the 2018 BPK Coordinating Meeting at the Auditorium of the BPK Head Office in Jakarta, on Monday.

The Chairman viewed that there were still many performance audit reports that were unclear, incomprehensive, and incomplete. This was because the performance audit was done only within three months at the longest, whereas in other countries such as in America and Australia, performance audits lasted for 6 months or even up to a year long.

"I expect that performance audits in BPK can follow practices done by those countries. We are not only concerned with the quantity of performance audits in order to achieve the target of the Key Performance Index, but also the quality and depth," the Chairman said.

Not only evaluating the performance audit reports, the Chairman was also inviting BPK’s officers to realize the commitment of integrity zone development within BPK to achieve corruption free and clean bureaucracy and serving areas. He advised auditors to decline superiors' orders contrary to the principles of BPK's integrity.

Previously, the BPK’s Secretary General, Bahtiar Arif, in his report hoped that the Coordinating Meeting themed "Intertwining Togetherness, Strengthening Coordination" can actualize a more intensive coordination among elements in the BPK. "Strong togetherness and strong coordination will be able to promote the achievement of vision and the implementation of mission in accordance with the BPK’s Strategic Plan of 2016-2020," he said.

The meeting that was attended by all structural officials and functional officers within BPK aimed at getting direction from the Board as well as evaluating the implementation of BPK’s strategic programs/activities. Additionally, the meeting also aimed at coordinating various plans of interunit strategic programs/activities in 2018 and 2019.
