The BPK Initiates the Coordinating Meeting on National Food Policy

In order to build positive communication and dialogue towards its stakeholders and to obtain the best inputs and solutions for the national food supply, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) held a coordinating meeting at the BPK’s Head Office on Tuesday (6/21) themed “The National Food Policy: Domestic Supply Vs Import”. The meeting were attended by the Vice Chairman of the BPK, Sapto Amal Damandari, The Board Member IV, Rizal Djalil, the Board Member VII, Achsanul Qosasi, the Board Member II, Agus Joko Pramono, the Minister of Agriculture, Amran Sulaiman, the Minister of Trade, Thomas Lembong, the Chair of the Indonesian Farmers Association, and the observer of agriculture, Bustanul Arifin.

Indonesia has experienced the food problem. It is the gap between the national food demand and supply that often triggers public debate, especially concerning whether the supply will be provided domestically or from the import. Thus, the BPK puts a high concern to the problem, as it is also in line with the BPK’s vision, which is being the support of the state financial management in achieving the national purpose with a qualified and useful audit.

The BPK will guard and ensure that the national development priorities are implemented and reported transparently, accountably, and useful for the people’s welfare. Thus, the food sovereignty will be the BPK’s concern and consideration in the audit planning”, the Vice Chairman emphasized.
