BPK and DPR Hold a Consultation Meeting Concerning The Audit on Covid-19 Pandemic

Jakarta, BPK Public Relations - The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) and the House of Representatives (DPR) held a closed consultation meeting concerning BPK's audit on Covid-19 pandemic. The meeting took place at DPR's Nusantara IV Building on Tuesday.

The BPK Chairman, Agung Firman Sampurna, revealed that BPK and DPR had a similar view regarding the audit process.

"BPK is at the same standpoint as the DPR, it is not only to maintain the compliance with laws and regulations and the accountability, but what BPK will do is also to encourage the government in managing the pandemic and the national economic recovery, while emphasizing principles of transparency and accountability", the Chairman said before the press.

The BPK had prepared several audit strategies, including drawing specific procedures and conducting intense communication with state financial managers and officials. The BPK would also build a procedure that would let state financial managers immediately follow up identified problems found during the audit process. It was expected that the audit would later be as transparent and accountable.

On the occasion, the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani, mentioned that the Covid-19 pandemic had posed a real threat to the people, both in social economic and financial systems. Therefore, she expected that BPK's supervision and audit would be carried out with the principles of prudence, transparency and accountability.

"In an extraordinary condition of handling the pandemic, it requires quick steps, yet measureable. Thus, the DPR asked the BPK to mitigate the use of Covid-19 handling funds and the impacts, so that they could be managed as transparent and accountable for people's welfare", she said.

The meeting was attended by BPK Board Members imcluding Hendra Susanto, Achasul Qosasi, Isma Yatun, and Daniel L. Tobing. From the DPR, there were Vice Speakers M. Azis Syamsudin, Rahmat Gobel and Muhaimin Iskandar, as well as Members of the Commission XI of the DPR.
