JAKARTA, Friday (27 November 2020) – The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) and The National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) united their collaborative efforts with a Whole of Government approach. Given both institutions had different duties, authorities, needs, and roles, it thus needed a collaborative approach with a broader scope in obtaining state goals. This governance approach that brought together collaborative efforts from across sector was often referred to as Whole of Government.

This was conveyed by BPK Chairman, Agung Firman Sampurna in his opening remarks after signing a Memorandum of Understanding between BPK and Lemhanas. The MoU was signed by BPK Chairman and Governor of Lemhanas, Lieutenant General (Ret) Agus Widjojo at BPK Head Office, Jakarta, today (27/11). It contains cooperation and coordination in order to support institutional duties and functions, whose scope covering data and/or information exchange, studies and research, education and training, and other activities.

BPK is a state institution whose duty is to audit state financial management and accountability. Whereas, Lemhanas is a non-ministerial government institution with task to provide education for cadres of national level leaders, conducting strategic studies, and strengthening national values. “Whole of Government approach through coordination and collaboration of a number of institutions is expected to improve effectiveness and efficiency aspects and avoid the growth of sectoral egos. Leadership is one of important keys in facing challenges in the practice of the Whole of Government,” BPK Chairman explained.

BPK currently is making efforts to improve the capabilities of a modern and dynamic audit organization. BPK is also encouraged to become a learning organization that is able to enhance sustainable development through new patterns of leadership in the challenge of accountability. This is in line with one of Lemhanas duties namely providing education to prepare cadres and strengthen national level leaders in terms of the ability to think comprehensively, holistically, integrative and professionally, and to have a universal perspective.

BPK hoped that the MoU signing would be able to support BPK to become a trusted audit institution that played an active role in realizing quality and beneficial state financial governance to obtain state goals.
