BPK Board Member V Invites Academicians to Understand State Financial Management

JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations – Board Member V of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Bahrullah Akbar, delivered public lecture with a theme “Accountability for All: The Role of BPK in Encouraging Transparency and Accountability of State Financial Management” at University of Musamus, Merauke District, Papua on Thursday (08/04/2021). The public lecture packed in the event of BPK Goes to Campus was physically limited and virtually attended by hundreds students of the University of Musamus.

In the public lecture, Bahrullah invites academicians to understand more about management and accountability of state finances, as well as duties, function, and authority of BPK. According to him, in carrying out its duties and function, BPK needs support from public, particularly the academicians in building transparency and accountability of state financial management.

“BPK hopes that synergies with the universities will further encourage the realization of transparent and accountable management and accountability of state finances in the future,” said Bahrullah Akbar.

He further explains that state finances are all rights and obligations of state that can be valued in money, as well as everything in cash or in the form of goods that can be owned by the state in connection with the implementation of rights and obligations. To ensure that the management is carried out properly, the state financial manager should implement it in a transparent and accountable manner.

“BPK as an audit institution has duties and authority to carry out audits on the state/regional financial management and accountability,” Bahrullah explained. If the state financial management is carried out in a transparent and accountable manner, the objectives of management of state finances to create the prosperity of the people then can be achieved.

Other points delivered in the public lecture were including Enhancement of the role of BPK through audit of Long Form Audit Report (LFAR) and presentation of additional information for regional governments in the form of Summary of Regional Semester Audit Reports (IHPD).

Rector of Institute of Public Administration (IPDN), Ermaya Suradinata and BPK Director General of Audit V, Akhsanul Khaq were also present as the speakers.

The participants of the public lecture consist of Deputy Regent of Merauke Regency, Riduan, Acting Rector of the University of Musamus, Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono, Head of BPK Regional Office of Papua Province, Paula Henry Simatupang, and BPK officials.
