Jakarta, Monday (12 July 2021) - Clarification of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) on News Report regarding Audit Results on The Effectiveness of Management of Prevention Function and Management of Arrests and Seized Goods of Corruption Crime published by several mass media on 11 and 12 July 2021.

The clarification aims to get the news report clearer and to avoid misunderstandings from the recipients of the information, particularly related to the news entitled “BPK States that Prevention of Corruption Carried Out by Corruption Eradication Commission (CEC) during the Era of Firli Bahuri is Ineffective”.

  1. Performance Audit of the Management of Arrests and Seized Goods of Corruption Crime in the CEC, carried out by BPK in 2020 aimed to improve the performance of CEC in managing arrests and seized goods.
  2. During the performance audit, BPK conducted audit of management of coordination and prevention supervision function, and management of arrests and seized goods of corruption crime in the CEC during the period of 2015-Semester I, 2020. The audit concluded that the management of coordination and prevention supervision function, and management of arrests and seized goods of corruption crimes in the CEC is not fully effective.
  3. The seized goods resulted in exemption in the BPK’s audit opinion on Financial Statements of CEC for Fiscal Year of 2018. Consequently, the financial statements obtained Qualified Opinion.
  4. The audit report did not mention the Chairman of CEC Firli Bahuri, as stated in news titles published in several mass media. Rather, it was the conclusion of the mass media editorial.
  5. Furthermore, BPK has provided strategic audit recommendations that are fully accepted by CEC. BPK appreciated CEC for improving its performance, management, and accountability in managing the state finances. As a result, the audit opinion on Financial Statements of CEC has been increased from Qualified Opinion to Unqualified Opinion in 2019 and 2020.
