JAKARTA, Monday (11 January 2021) – The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) has conducted Webinar on Ensuring Transparency and Accountability in COVID-19 Pandemic: a Multi-Stakeholder Approach and Perspective. The webinar, which was attended by more than 500 participants coming from various stakeholders, such as other Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) in Asia region, Ministries/Institutions in Indonesia, academics, Professional Association, and BPK auditors, is a forum to share experiences in identifying and dealing with risks that may hinder transparency and accountability in the pandemic era.

In this webinar, BPK Chairman, Agung Firman Sampurna, emphasizes that Transparency and Accountability are two main components of good governance that should not be compromised even during a crisis. All stakeholders should be aware of and strive to promote those values, even while addressing other critical issues

During this crisis, BPK RI will conduct a universe audit. It aims to promote the value of inclusiveness, in addition to transparency and accountability, as it requires cooperation from all stakeholders to deal with the pandemic issues. A multi-stakeholder approach, which invites and allows contributions, coordination and cooperation from all stakeholders, is the best path forward

The seminar presented various speakers, namely BPK Board Member III, The World Bank, International Budget Partnership (IBP), Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) Australia, United Nation Resident Coordinator (UNRC), Australian National Audit Office (ANAO), BPKP, Universitas Indonesia and INTOSAI Policy, Finance and Administration Committee (PFAC).

The expected output from this seminar is to increase the participants’ knowledge and insight regarding the experiences of the stakeholders in encouraging transparency and accountability.
