BPK Holds an Accountability Education For The Public Through FUN BPK 2020 And 75th Commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day

Jakarta, Tuesday (August 18, 2020) - The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) held a socialization and education activity on the value of accountability in the management of the state finance, while building an effective communication with stakeholders, especially with the general public and the younger generation. The activity was carried out in a form of a competition festival named Festival Untuk Negeri Tahun 2020 (FUN BPK 2020). The festival was also to enliven the 75th commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day.

The festival consisted of a series of activities framed in a theme of "Accountability for All". It comprised of four competitions, namely online quiz competition participated by high school and university students throughout Indonesia; Bibliobattle, a competition to retell fiction/non-fiction books having moral values ​​of integrity, honesty, etc.; video competition for internal BPK; and social media content competition for students highlighting the theme of “BPK According to You". These series of activities would take place from August to December 2020.

"BPK always strives to increase insight and interaction with stakeholders, not only with audited entities, parliament, government, professional institutions, and general public, but also with the future generation of the country – younger generation and students," BPK Vice Chairman Agus Joko Pramono said at the virtual opening of FUN BPK 2020 today.

The opening was attended by BPK officials and online quiz competition participants from all over Indonesia.

Right after the opening, the online quiz competition took place, testing the knowledge regarding BPK, national insights and current issues. According to the Vice Chairman, the competition was expected to bridging the national insight toward younger generation, instilling the values ​​of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution and the Unity in Diversity (Bhineka Tunggal Ika), and most importantly, providing knowledge on the role of the BPK in auditing the management of the state finance. A total of 520 teams had registered for the competitions, which were approximately 1,353 high school and university students participating in the competitions.

BPK was committed to build good relationships with stakeholders, especially the younger generation. They were expected to become BPK’s agents to support the realization of a transparent and accountable state financial management.
