BPK Signs an MOU with The Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Enhance Its International Role

JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations - With its active involvement in the international arena, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) has the opportunity to externalize its best practices to be the reference for audit institutions of other countries. On the contrary, BPK can itself implement international best practices into its audits and business processes.

BPK Chairman Agung Firman Sampurna mentions that there are at least three international organizations in which BPK has incorporated namely ASEANSAI, ASOSAI and INTOSAI, as an implementation of multilateral cooperation among audit institutions at regional and world levels. In addition, BPK has also increased its international role by becoming subject matter experts in various international working groups.

"Thus, BPK is becoming more active and responsive in fulfilling requests from the international community," the Chairman said in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between BPK and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Auditorium of the BPK Head Office on Tuesday.

"This achievement is an international acknowledgment of BPK's competence as an external auditor, as it also shows an evidence of diplomatic excellence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," he added.

BPK and Ministry of Foreign Affairs sign an MoU on Cooperation and Coordination to Support the Institutional Duties and Functions. It is signed by BPK Chairman and Minister Retno Marsudi, witnessed by BPK’s officials and other employers of BPK and the Ministry.

BPK Chairman says further that BPK and the Ministry are two different entities. However, when it comes to international competition, BPK and the Ministry must become one, Indonesia. With the signing of the MoU, it is expected that both institutions will be able to organize and strengthen the cooperation to face challenges and take advantages of international opportunities.

"The memorandum of understanding is expected to be a strong foundation for future cooperation between BPK and Ministry of Foreign Affairs with whole-of-government approach," he said in the activity held offline and online, explaining that the agreed cooperation includes exchange of data and/or information, studies and researches, diplomatic supports, education and trainings and other needed activities.

BPK Board Member I Hendra Susanto, Board Member II Pius Lustrilanang, Board Member VI Nyoman Adhi Suryadnyana, Secretary General Bahtiar Arif and other BPK and the Ministry’s officials are physically attending the meeting.

BPK expects that the MoU can support BPK's vision of becoming a trusted audit institution playing an active role in realizing quality and useful state financial management to achieve the national objectives.
