BPK Vice Chairman Attends Extraordinary Virtual Meeting of IDI Board

JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations - In an effort to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) Board held an extraordinary virtual meeting on Thursday. This meeting discussed the revision of the 2020 operational plan, the 2021 budget plan and the implementation plan of IDI activities in "new normal".

The BPK Vice Chairman, Agus Joko Pramono, as a member of the IDI Board attended the meeting. During the meeting, IDI Board Members evaluated the steps IDI had taken during the COVID-19 pandemic and the revised operational plan for 2020. This was intended to ensure that the IDI's goal of supporting Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) to increase their capacity and performance continued on an ongoing basis in the "new normal" period.

IDI has taken priority steps in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, including the implementation of an online working system. Furthermore, IDI also issued superior programs as follows:

  1. Performance audits on public health systems linked to SDG indicator 3D (Strengthen the capacity of all countries, in particular developing countries, for early warning, risk reduction and management of national and global health risks).
  2. Pilot audits of the so-called shadow pandemic of violence against women. These are audits of government efforts to eliminate intimate partner violence against women linked to SDG 5.2. (Strengthen the capacity of all countries, in particular developing countries, for early warning, risk reduction and management of national and global health risks).
  3. Transparency, accountability and inclusiveness audits (TAI audits) in the use of emergency funding for Covid-19.

In addition, the meeting also discussed the plan of the cooperation between IDI/INTOSAI Cooperation and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) related to the role of SAIs in auditing emergency funds. As a member of the newly established IDI Board in March 2020, Agus Joko Pramono had the opportunity to introduce himself to the IDI Board Members. On the occasion, he conveyed his commitment to actively contribute to realizing IDI's strategic objectives. He further expressed his appreciation to the management and the IDI Secretariat for the new normal proposals. He also strongly supported the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support the online working.

With the BPK Vice Chairman joining the IDI Board, the role of the BPK in the international community is increasing. The BPK will have broader opportunities to externalize BPK's experience in the international community and enhance Indonesia's role in the international arena, where IDI has the role in pushing the standard setter for the worldwide SAI community.

The meeting was also attended by BPK Secretary General Bahtiar Arif, Senior Advisor on Risk Management Bernadus Dwita Pradana, and Director of Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau Selvia Vivi Devianti.
