BPK Vice Chairman Attends IAAC Meeting with UN OIOS, UN DMSPC and UN Controller

JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations - BPK Vice Chairman Agus Joko Pramono as the Vice-Chair of the Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the United Nations (IAAC) virtually attended the 55thUN IAAC meeting from July 21 to 23, 2021 with Microsoft Teams.

The meeting was led by Chair of the IAAC Janet St. Laurent (America) and attended by other IAAC Members namely Dorothy A. Bradley (Belize), Anton V. Kosyanenko (Russia) and Imran Vanker (South Africa), as well as Executive Secretary Moses Bamuwamye.

In this series of IAAC meetings, BPK Vice Chairman was present at regular IAAC agenda meetings with the UN Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (UN DMSPC), the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS)and the UN Controller.

Christophe Monier, the Director of Business Transformation and Accountability attended the meeting with the UN DMSPC discussing the concerns of the IAAC Committee and the UN Secretary General (Secretary General) on current issues including cyber security, threats of the cyber development to the UN organizational system, and the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), including risks to the implementation of UMOJA (the UN ERM system integrating financial, human resources, procurement, and asset management).

The meeting continued to the discussion with Fatoumata Ndiaye, Under Secretary General for the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), regarding the status of the external assessment of the OIOS division and the "build back better" initiative and lessons learned from the pandemic situation. Building Back Better is a post-disaster recovery strategy focusing on reducing vulnerability to future disasters and strengthening community resilience to cope with physical, social, environmental and economic vulnerabilities and shocks. The Committee also discussed the results of the OIOS's assessment of the impact of implementing OIOS' recommendations over the past five years.

The regular IAAC meetings were also conducted with Chandramouli Ramanathan from the UN Controller to discuss the developments of UMOJA, the implementation status of the Statement on Internal Control (SIC), the development of the After Service Health Insurance (ASHI) and the operational implications of issues and trends appearing in the organization's financial statements.

The BPK Vice Chairman understands that there are high expectations for the role of the IAAC in the UN organization, especially in facing challenges, opportunities and lessons learned in performance responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, the accountability system framework that includes SIC, ERM, and UMOJA, as well as the financial situation and sustainability.

It is expected that the 55thIAAC meeting can provide useful inputs and suggestions for the improvement of the UN organizational system and become important lessons and knowledge for BPK and other global organizations.
