BPK Vice Chairman Presents the Audit on SDGs in Front of Auditor

KALIBATA, BPK Public Relations - The BPK Training Institute on State Finance Audit held a virtual workshop themed Auditing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Framework, Implementation and Challenges. It presented the Vice Chairman of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Agus Joko Pramono, as the resource person. The workshop was attended by BPK officials and auditors.

In his presentation on Monday, Vice Chairman said that the audit on SDGs implementation was an audit on the implementation of a series of policies that contributed to the achievement of nationally agreed targets related to one or more SDGs. The audit was carried out in order to conclude matters related to the efforts to achieve the targets, how they could be achieved based on current trends, and their adequacy compared to the corresponding SDGs.

"An audit on the implementation of SDGs needs to be conducted by using a whole of the government approach. This audit needs to conclude the extent of the coherence and the integration in policy implementation, and, wherever possible, the audit must include objectives and questions that allow auditors to conclude that there is no one left behind and that there is a multi-stakeholder engagement", the Vice Chairman said.

He further explained that the audit on the multi-stakeholder engagement would focus on the government's efforts to reach out and involve many stakeholders in setting and implementing nationally agreed targets related to SDGs. Auditors could check the good conditions the government might have created for the engagement process, the level of stakeholder involvement, the involvement of critical stakeholders, and the adequacy of interaction in the process. Towards the adequacy of interactions, auditors could consider whether there were communication channels allowing an open and honest feedback system, whether the feedback system was accessible and uncomplicated for stakeholders, and whether the feedback system allowed a balanced dialogue among parties.

The workshop was part of the Training Institute's forum called "Home of Knowledge". It was created to remain productive in knowledge sharing amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. It was also intended to provide opportunities to share knowledge and exchange experiences while improving competencies in an open and relaxed online dialogue.
