Chairperson of BPK: G20 Will Accelerate Economic Recovery

Jakarta, Tuesday (15 November 2022) – Chairperson of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) as Chair of Supreme Audit Institution 20 (SAI20), Isma Yatun, congratulated G20 for successful organization of G20 Summit, today (15/11), in Bali.

"Congratulation for successful organization of G20 Summit. BPK is confident that all activities carried out for Indonesia G20’s presidency will undoubtedly accelerate economic recovery. It aligns with theme of G20 which focusses on post COVID-19 pandemic handling and economic recovery. It is Recover Together, Recover Stronger," Isma Yatun highlighted.

As definite support for Indonesia G20’s presidency, BPK initiated an establishment of Supreme Audit Institution 20 (SAI20), a new engagement group of SAI20. The initiative is intended to furthering all efforts of governments, member states of G20, to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance not only in national level but also in global level. SAI20 is founded as a forum platform where Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) in respective member states of G20 meet and discuss substantial topics aiming at: 1) giving more contributions to heads of G20 in areas for leading transparency, accountability, and good governance; as well as 2) expanding global partnership and cooperation with multi-stakeholders within G20 ecosystem and community.

In SAI20 Summit organized in Bali, Indonesia, on 29-30 August 2022, SAI20 successfully produced communique. It consists of statements agreed by heads of SAIs attending the SAI20 Summit. The communique focusses on roles of SAIs in their respective countries to encourage and promote inclusive collaborations with multi-stakeholders, aligning with theme of current G20 presidency. SAI20 is expected to be a solid legacy of BPK, giving genuine contribution to presidency of Indonesia in G20 this year.

The communique comprises of 12 statements managed in three parts. The first part has 8 statements on rationale for the establishment of SAI20 as a new engagement group of G20. The second part provides fundamental recommendations for governments and stakeholders to accelerate both economic recovery and achievement of SDGs. The last part stresses the importance of sustainability and possible collaborations to promote efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of public administration.
