Encouraging Sustainable Development, BPK Holds InCSFA

DENPASAR, Humas BPK - The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) held an International Conference on State Finance and Accountability (InCSFA) on Thursday at the Auditorium of BPK Representative Office in Bali. The conference was themed "Governance and Accountability of State Finance to Promote Sustainable Development". It was held based on BPK’s experiences in contributing strategically to the sustainable development through its audit function.

BPK Chairman, Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara, said when opening the conference that this activity was intended to encourage the role of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) incorporated in the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in the implementation of the sustainable development in their respective countries through the audit function. "This conference is a forum to share knowledge and experiences in sustainable development issues," he stated.

The conference was attended by auditors, researchers, representatives of regional governments, professional associations of state financial management, with speakers from government elements, academics, and audit institutions, namely Arifin Rudiyanto from the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Jane Meade from the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO), Eko Prasojo from the University of Indonesia, and Javien D. Ompoc from the Audit of the Republic of the Philippines.

In 2016, BPK joined the INTOSAI Knowledge Sharing Committee (INTOSAI KSC) and INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) in the capacity building program for auditing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this regard, BPK has audited the readiness of the government in implementing SDGs and has delivered the audit results during KSC, IDI and UN DESA (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs) forums.

At the opening of the international conference, BPK Chairman accompanied by the Vice Chairman Bahrullah Akbar and Board Members signed an inscription to inaugurate the new BPK’s Education and Training Center for State Financial Audit located in Gianyar, Bali. The Education and Training Center in Bali was established as a form of BPK's commitment to its function as stipulated in its mandate and vision. Also, BPK has been trusted by the IDI to organize trainings for the Asia Pacific region.

Present during the series of activities such as the Governor of the Province of Bali, I Wayan Koster, the Chairman of the SAI of Zanzibar, Fatma Mohamed Said, and officials of BPK.
