Jakarta, Monday (May 18, 2020) - In the Second Semester of 2019, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) conducted a special-purposed audit on the supervision of commercial banks implemented by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and other related agencies during the period of 2017-2019. The audit report was handed in March 2020.

The purpose of the audit was to assess whether the implementation of the supervision conducted from 2017 to 2019 was carried out in compliance with applicable regulations. In relation with the audit result, the OJK had followed up BPK's 22 recommendations.

"As the recommendations had been followed up, the effectiveness of banking supervision has been improved. It is expected that the quality of the supervision will be more effective," BPK Chairman, Agung Firman Sampurna, said.

The result of the follow up of BPK's audit recommendations shows that the banking supervision system in Indonesia continues to improve in quality. Thus, the public should not have to worry about the banking condition in Indonesia. The improvement in the quality of the banking supervision is expected to be able to overcome problems found in commercial banks, including those sampled by the BPK.

The BPK's audit and the synergy of BPK's audit entities, including the OJK, through the follow up of audit recommendations prove that the system of accountability and transparency in the state financial management in Indonesia is increasingly credible.
