The Synergy Beetween BPK and APIP Needed in Handling COVID-19 Pandemic

JAKARTA, BPKPublic Relations - BPK needs to communicate and cooperate with the Government Internal Supervisory Agency (APIP) in planning the audits on the handling of the pandemic. It was mentioned by the BPK Board Member III, Achsanul Qosasi, at the 2020 National Coordination Meeting of the Internal Supervision opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, on Monday.

The Board Member said that APIP’s works will help determining character, time, and scope of audits in order to reach the maximum added values. According to him, the synergy between BPK and APIP could be implemented through a structured communication discussing issues related to policies in handling the pandemic.

"The synergy must be based up on the principal of the accountability of the state finance. The accountability in handling the pandemic has become our responsibility", he said at the meeting themed Collaboration and Synergy among APIP, External Auditor, and Law Enforcement Agencies in Supervising the Handling of Covid-19 and the National Economic Recovery.

The Board Member further said that the government policies in handling the pandemic provided broad authorities to the government and the Financial Sector Stability Committee to take extraordinary actions in managing the state finance for the pandemic’s handlings.

In response to this, the BPK performed risk analysis on the state financial policies and the financial system stability during the pandemic. The risk analysis consisted of strategic, operational, and integrity risk analysis. He added that during the pandemic, the BPK would implement audit methods that enabled auditors to gather sufficient and accurate evidences without sacrificing people’s health.

The meeting aims at building perceptions on the similarity sense of crisis related to the current handling of the pandemic. Being virtually conducted, the meeting was attended by Ministers and Leaders of Institutions, Heads of Regional Governments, APIP, External Auditor, and Law Enforcement Agencies.

Beside the BPK Board Member, the meeting chaired by the Head of the Development and Finance Comptroller (BPKP), Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, also presented resource persons such as the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Firli Bahuri, the Chief of the National Police, Idham Aziz, and the Attorney General, ST Burhanuddin.
