BPK to Audit Government Financial Statements, including Assets and Debts

Jakarta - The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia, BPK (Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan) has received the Central Government Financial Statement (LKPP). The financial statement is a form of government accountability for the implementation of the 2017 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

Board Member III of BPK RI, Achsanul Qosasi, said that the report will be audited by BPK. The audit would result in audit opinion from BPK. "We shall audit the central government finance of 2017 and we will issue an audit opinion on the said Financial Statement," as he explained to detikFinance in Jakarta on Wednesday (28/3/2018).

Achsanul also explained that BPK shall audit a number of aspects, including assets and debts. "The main points of the audit will be on assets, debts, and financial management of all government departments."

With regards to the audit, he also stated that the government has 3 months to prepare LKPP while BPK has 2 months to perform the audit afterwards. The audit result will be tabled to the national parliament, the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR/Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat). The parliament requires the government to be accountable.

"We have two months to perform the audit and the result of the audit will be presented to the parliament, in this case DPR. We will see how accountable the government is," he said.

In 2016, the Central Government Financial Statement (LKPP) received unqualified audit opinion (WTP). This is the first unqualified audit opinion received by the government in the last 12 years. "Last year the government, after 12 years, finally received unqualified audit opinion, and this year we shall see whether or not the government can maintain this good result, and we shall discuss this with the team," he said.
