Chairman Of BPK Officially Opens SAI20 Technical Meeting
BALI, BPK Public Relations – As Indonesia assumes G20 Presidency in 2022, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) holds Technical Meeting as the first official meeting of Supreme Audit Institution 20 (SAI20), a new Engagement Group (EG) of G20. Organized virtually in two days on 26-27 January 2022 in Bali, Indonesia, the SAI20 Technical Meeting aims to discuss two priority issues, accelerating economic recovery and supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The SAI20 Technical Meeting commences with remarks by Secretary General of BPK, Bahtiar Arif, and pre-recorded remarks by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartanto. In his remarks, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia highly appreciates BPK and all participants for SAI20 initiative and hopes SAI20 will be a role model of good cooperative synergy among developed and developing countries.
The SAI20 Technical Meeting is officially opened by Chairman of BPK, Agung Firman Sampurna. In his remarks, Chairman of BPK explains the importance of preparedness and readiness to overcome crisis that may occur in the near future. Therefore, SAI20 is expected to be an open forum for SAI members to effectively discuss accelerating economic recovery and supporting SDGs related issues in particular by catering inclusive participation of all.
Chairman of BPK highlights that SAI20 has crucial roles in accelerating economic recovery during pandemic time in particular, ensuring governance resilience, business sustainability, and achieving the 2030 Agenda. At the meeting, Chairman of BPK officially launches dedicated website of SAI20 at https://sai20.org/ that will be a knowledge sharing media both among internal member and external member of SAI20.
Following kick-off on the establishment of SAI20 by Chairman of BPK, G20 Co-Sherpa of Indonesia, Dian Triansyah Djani, makes his presentation on Implementing G20 Rome Leaders’ Declaration on the Importance of Accountability and Transparency of G20 Member Countries and the Role of Troika in session 1 of the meeting. In his presentation, he conveys his expectations of the establishment of SAI20 and of solid output for issues related to global health, energy transition, and digital transformation in particular.
Director of Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau of BPK, Selvia Vivi Devianti, chairs the SAI20 Technical Meeting and leads discussion about Rules of Procedures of SAI20. She presents comments and inputs received from members of SAI20 for further discussion and accommodation. The comments and inputs will be used to improve and to reach an agreement on the Rules of Procedures of SAI20.
Deep discussion about priority issues of SAI20 will be scheduled on 2nd day of the meeting. There are two priority issues discussed in 3rd and 4th sessions including accelerating economic recovery and supporting the SDGs.
By actively engaged in SAI20, BPK is expected to have broader opportunities to share as well as to learn diverse audit experiences, SDGs related audits in particular, with international community to support externalisation programs of BPK.
