BPK Begins Performance and Special Purpose Audits at Ministry of Transportation

SUBANG, BPK Public Relations – Board Member I of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Nyoman Adhi Suryadyana, led an entry meeting for the audit of financial governance at the Ministry of Transportation for the third quarter of 2024. This audit comprises two types of audits: performance audit and special purpose audit.

"This entry meeting is part of the initial audit stage, aiming to establish intensive communication between the auditee and the auditor. It is hoped that this would result in a common understanding that will support the smooth implementation of the audit," stated Board Member I of BPK at the event, which was attended by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi in Subang, West Java, on Wednesday (21/8).

BPK auditors are guided by the State Financial Audit Standards (SPKN) in carrying out their duties. SPKN among other things, requires the auditors to maintain efficient and effective communication throughout the audit process. This aims to ensure that the audit runs smoothly and that the audit results are understandable and actionable by the responsible parties and/or relevant stakeholders.

Board Member I of BPK said that the performance audit would cover motor vehicle type test service and registration for fiscal year 2023 to the first semester of 2024, as well as the management of Inaportnet in organizing port services for fiscal year 2023 to the first semester of 2024.

"The PDTT will focus on the management of construction expenditures of Patimban Port for fiscal year 2023 to the first semester of 2024, and the management of non-tax state revenues (PNBP) year 2022 to the first semester of 2024 at the Directorate General of Air Transportation," he added.

The performance audit aims to ensure that the activities funded by state finances are conducted in an economic, efficient, and effective manner in order to achieve their objectives. Board Member I of BPK stated that the performance audit would result in findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

On the other hand, the PDTT is a specialized audit that is performed apart from the financial and performance audits. It includes audits of other finance-related matters and investigative audits.

Concluding his remarks, Board Member I of BPK hoped that there will be a good and effective communication between BPK auditors and the Ministry of Transportation during the audit process. "We perform our duties and obligations according to our respective authorities. Therefore, we must work together to improve the management of state finances and contribute to the progress of our nation and state," he concluded.

The event was also attended by the Director General of Audit I, Akhsanul Khaq, Secretary General of the Ministry of Transportation Novie Riyanto Rahardjo, Director General of Sea Transportation Antoni Arif Priadi, as well as structural officials from the Ministry of Transportation and the BPK audit team.
