BPK Submits Audit Report on the Financial Statements of Ministry of Finance and State General Treasury for Fiscal Year 2023
JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations – The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) submitted an audit report on the financial statements of the Ministry of Finance and the State General Treasurer (BUN) for 2023. The audit report was handed by Board Member II of BPK Daniel Lumban Tobing in person to Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/7).
“Based on the audit results of the Financial Statements of the Ministry of Finance, BPK found a number of issues, including income tax and value added tax indicated to be under-remitted. This resulted in a revenue shortfall of Rp5.82 trillion and potential administrative sanctions of Rp341.80 billion,” said Board Member II of the BPK.
On these issues, BPK recommends the Minister of Finance to order the Director General of Taxes to instruct the Head of the relevant Tax Service Office (KPP), to be more optimal in conducting tiered supervision, which includes conducting research on indications of shortages or potential tax revenue.
One of the issues found in the Financial Statements of the Ministry of Finance as the State General Treasurer was the inadequate management of the government’s food reserve program (CPP) in the form of rice and corn in 2023.
For this reason, BPK recommends the Minister of Finance as the State General Treasurer to coordinate with the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) to resolve the government's obligations to the Public Company of the Logistics Agency (Perum BULOG) for the distribution of unpaid government rice reserves (CBP) and stabilization of food price supply (SPHP) for corn in 2023, including the budgeting process, which must be in accordance with statutory provisions.
Board Member II of BPK stated that while there were still issues, they did not have a material impact on the fairness of the Financial Statements. Based on these considerations, BPK gave an Unqualified Opinion on the Financial Statements of the Ministry of Finance and the Financial Statements of State General Treasurer for fiscal year 2023.
According to Board Member II of BPK, in accordance with the State Financial Audit Standards, BPK auditors are required to build efficient and effective communication throughout the audit process. Related to this, BPK has conducted a series of communications beginning with the entry meeting, implementation of testing procedures, discussion of the concept of audit findings, discussion of final assertions of the financial statements, and ending with finalization of the audit report.
“We hope that the submission of the audit report has really presented accurate and balanced information, and provided recommendations that have an impact on improving the management and responsibility of state finances, especially within the Ministry of Finance both as budget users and as the State General Treasurer,” he concluded.
In addition to Board Member II of BPK and the Minister of Finance, the event was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Finance Suahasil Nazara and Thomas Djiwandono, Director General of Audit II Nelson Ambarita, high-level officials of the Ministry of Finance and BPK auditor.
