BPK Supports Efforts Taken by Inspectorate General to Achieve IACM Level IV
BOGOR, Humas BPK – An effective internal supervisory will provide a value added to the improvement of governance, risk management, and control, which in turn will strengthen the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) as a tough and trustworthy audit institution.
This was conveyed by Chairperson of BPK, Isma Yatun when gave her direction and officially opened supervisory coordination meeting of Inspectorate General (Itama) year 2022. The meeting was held on 19-21 December 2022 in Bogor, West Java.
“To achieve an effective internal supervisory, BPK strategic plan 2020-2024 has targeted Internal Audit Capability Model (IACM) Level IV for Itama’s capability. This level integrates information across organization to develop organizational governance and risk management,” she explained.
“The achievement of IACM at that level will later encourage Itama to fully apply risk-based audit methodology in its supervisory operational activity,” she added.
Chairperson of BPK hoped Itama could improve its capacity so that it could become a trusted advisor in BPK governance, in which Itama focused on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of BPK governance as well as being a role model in the implementation of internal supervision.
Vice Chairman of BPK, Agus Joko Pramono, said in his closing remarks that the theme of this year coordination meeting “Transformation: from good to great" was in line with the role of Itama in encouraging the achievement of organizational goals and Itama’s desire to achieve IACM Level IV.
“Being an internal supervisory unit that achieves IACM Level IV is not easy as it requires a fundamental paradigm shift. At IACM Level IV, Itama must be able to become an internal supervisory organization that focuses not only on Itama's internal organization, but also on Itama's external environment," said Vice Chairman.
To achieve IACM Level IV, Itama must be able to become a strategic partner for BPK’s leaders and management on an ongoing basis. In addition, the results of Itama's supervision on governance, risk management and control have shown an evaluation of continuous improvement in the quality of supervision to support the achievement of BPK's organizational goals.
"Achieving IACM Level IV is proof that Itama has effectively been able to fully enhance its function and credibility as a watchdog, consultant and catalyst for leaders and working units in BPK," he said.
This coordination meeting aims to develop a strategy for developing organizational capabilities and human resources in Itama, as well as to develop a work program and supervisory performance targets for 2023. Attending the meeting was Inspector General, I Nyoman Wara, and all officials of Itama.
