The Opening of The Ministerial Segment High-Level Political Forum at UN Headquarters, New York
NEW YORK, BPK Public Relations - The President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Munir Akram, officially opened the UN Ministerial Segment High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Tuesday, together with the UN General Assembly President, Volkan Bozkir, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo delivered a speech as Indonesia's commitment to the HLPF with the submission of the third Indonesian Voluntary National Review (VNR).
There are several common global issues delivered throughout the opening session related to the overseeing of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the impacts of COVID-19. The global issues include production, distribution, and access to vaccines; balanced structure and architecture of global finance; special attention to vulnerable groups, gender equality issues, and green economy; global partnership in line with the principle of no one left behind; and digital transformation as a new challenge in the concept of equality.
After the opening session that was also attended by the Indonesian delegates, BPK Vice Chairman Agus Joko Pramono had the opportunity to meet Minister of National Development Planning Suharo Monoarfa to discuss about the progress of the follow up of recommendations of the Indonesian VNR SDGs Year 2021.
The BPK's participation in the occasion has an important and strategic meaning. The BPK plays a role model for other Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in encouraging the improvement of VNR quality, transparency, and accountability. Furthermore, it is as the manifestation of the implementation of SDGs 16 and 17 and the INTOSAI P-12, Value and Benefits of SAI.
The Review Report of the Indonesia VNR SDGs Year 2021 was submitted to the UN on June 23, 2021 and can be accessed on the BPK website. It is presented bilingually in Bahasa and English.
