BPK and GCA of Saudi Arabia Strengthen Their Collaboration in Public Sector Audit and Digital Transformation Strategy
BALI, BPK Public Relations – Chair of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Isma Yatun, received a courtesy call from Executive Vice President for Development and Planning of the General Court of Audit (GCA) of Saudi Arabia, Hazim Algethami, along with the General Supervisor of the Financial Statement Audit Office, Lama Alhammadi, and other GCA delegates. The meeting took place on the last day of the bilateral discussions between GCA of Saudi Arabia and BPK, which was held in Bali on February 15-16, 2025. Chair of BPK was accompanied by Secretary General Bahtiar Arif, Director General of BPK Training Institute on State Finance Audit Yudi Ramdan Budiman, Director of Information Technology Bureau Pranoto, and Director of Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau Teguh Widodo.
Chair of BPK expressed appreciation for the visit of GCA of Saudi Arabia delegation and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two institutions in enhancing the effectiveness of state financial audits. "This visit is not just a professional meeting; it also reflects a deeper relationship aimed at strengthening cooperation between BPK and GCA, while fostering institutional capacity to address future challenges," she stated.
The Executive Vice President of GCA of Saudi Arabia thanked BPK for its warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss best audit practices. He noted that the Saudi Arabian government is currently transitioning from a cash-based accounting system to an accrual-based accounting system. In this context, GCA of Saudi Arabia is eager to learn from the experiences of other Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), such as BPK, particularly in terms of collaboration with the government in implementing an accrual-based accounting system effectively.
The two SAIs also discussed various aspects of auditing and governance to have better understanding of challenges and opportunities in public sector audits. The topics covered were organizational and governance structures, audit impacts, and the use of technology in audit processes.
As a follow-up, BPK and GCA of Saudi Arabia agreed to further strengthen cooperation in several strategic areas, including strategic planning, digital transformation, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in audits. With a strong commitment and a spirit of collaboration, both institutions believe that this partnership will continue to grow, bringing major benefits for enhancing state financial governance in both countries.
