BPK is Elected as The Chair of INTOSAI 2028-2031

BUSAN, BPK Public Relations – Indonesia is proposed to be a host for the International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI) in 2028. This was approved during the 59th Meeting of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) Governing Board in Busan, South Korea, on 20 - 22 September 2023.

Given that Indonesia has been recommended as the host country for INCOSAI 2028, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) will be appointed as the chair of International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) for 2028-2031. It will be held at INCOSAI XXV year 2025 in Cairo, Egypt.

INCOSAI is a big event of INTOSAI takes place every three year and attended by its members. This event marks the change of chairmanship of INTOSAI, in which the host country of INCOSAI will be appointed as the Chair of INTOSAI for the next period.

The proposal as the host country for INCOSAI 2028 and the Chairmanship of INTOSAI is determined by 12 ASOSAI Governing Board members, including Supreme Audit Institution Malaysia, Japan, Pakistan, China, Vietnam, Philippines, Turkey, South Korea, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India, and Russia. BPK got 9 out 12 votes from ASOSAI Governing Board Members.

During the 59th Meeting of the ASOSAI Governing Board, delegation of BPK led by Chair of BPK Isma Yatun who was invited as an observer. Accompanied by Secretary General Bahtiar Arif, Chair of BPK delivered a progress report of the implementation of research project on remote audit and of the activities of ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI).

Furthermore, as a host country for INCOSAI 2028, BPK will serve as INTOSAI Governing Board member since its appointment in 2025 to 2034. In addition, BPK will be appointed as Vice Chair I of INTOSAI 2025 - 2028 (three years before the appointment).

INTOSAI, founded in 1952, is an organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) from countries around the world that are autonomous, independent, and non-political. It aims to encourage public sector governance by strengthening the role of SAIs to help improve transparent, accountable, and credible performance of the governments and provide benefits to the public of the respective countries.

Currently, INTOSAI has 195 Full Members, 5 Associate Members and 2 Affiliate Members. BPK has been a Full Member of INTOSAI since 1968. Its 2022-2025 Chairmanship is currently held by SAI Brazil from the American region, while the 2025-2028 Chairmanship is SAI Egypt from the African region.
