Commemorating Its 76th Anniversary, BPK To Be Stronger and Greater
JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations - At its 76th year, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) as an audit institution must continue to improve. BPK Chairperson Isma Yatun says that the achievements must be maintained. At the same time, BPK should continue to synergize and increase collaboration and innovation to achieve BPK's vision.
"It is in line with the theme of this year's BPK anniversary, namely the Stronger the Greater," the Chairperson said in a ceremony to commemorate BPK's 76th anniversary on Tuesday.
"The theme reflects the hope of all BPK personnel for BPK to be stronger and better in carrying out its duties by providing the best work and benefits for all Indonesian people," she added.
The hybrid ceremony is attended by Vice Chairman Agus Joko Pramono, Board Members and all BPK employees. Invitees participating in the ceremony include former BPK Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Board Members.
Commemorating BPK anniversary, the Chairperson mentions achievements and awards BPK received at national and international levels. In 2022, for example, BPK initiates the establishment of the Supreme Audit Institution 20 (SAI20) as a new G20 engagement group. In the same year, BPK is elected as the Chair of the United Nations Panel of External Auditors, as a panel of the UN external auditors, Specialized Agencies and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In addition, the Chairperson also conveys challenges faced by BPK. First, those related to the uphold of BPK's core values needing joint attention and commitment, which will impact BPK’s credibility and trust. Second, those related to the optimization of the use of BPK resources. According to her, BPK's budget is still not aligned with the organizational needs that it is necessary to optimize human resources and infrastructures.
"The optimization is needed because we have received additional supports in human resources and infrastructures, and yet still require substantial funding as we have to open new representative offices in the new provinces in Papua and West Papua," she said.
The third challenge is the improvement of quality and benefits of audit results that must continue to be prioritized. The Chairperson says that quality and benefits must be clearly measured to be directly benefited the stakeholders.
Beside the flag ceremony held at BPK Head Office and all Regional Offices, the commemoration of its 76th anniversary is also implemented in social activities, competitions among working units and other activities aiming at increasing togetherness and friendship in BPK. Ceremony and gathering held in the auditorium of the BPK Head Office are the peak events of the whole activity series to celebrate BPK’s anniversary.
