BPK Conducts a Preliminary Audit on Permanent Housing Development in Cianjur
CIANJUR, BPK Public Relations - Board Member IV of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) Haerul Saleh conducted a working visit to Cianjur District West Java, as part of preliminary audit on the financial statements of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) for fiscal year 2024. This audit focuses particularly on the development of permanent housing for communities affected by the earthquake in the region.
"We sincerely hope that in the future housing programs for the community can be further enhanced through collaboration not only with regional governments but also with the central government and other stakeholders," stated Board Member IV of BPK during the visit held on Wednesday (22/11).
The audit is conducted in accordance with Law Number 15 of 2006 on the Audit Board. In the context of permanent housing development, this audit includes an evaluation of planning, implementation, and program results reporting.
The government has currently constructed 541 units of permanent housing, equipped with public and social facilities as part of disaster risk mitigation and the relocation of residents who previously lived in the red zone of the Cugenang Fault. However, BPK’s audit findings revealed several issues, including the incomplete handover process of inventory such as apartment units and special housing, delays in issuing decrees for aid recipients, which may lead to untimely completion of work, as well as issues in construction expenditures. These include miscalculations, insufficient work volumes, and non-compliance with contractual specifications.
"We hope to get explanations and hold discussions regarding existing or potential issues related to the planning, implementation, and reporting housing and settlement area development program," emphasized Board Member IV of BPK.
This visit is expected to serve as a discussion forum between BPK and relevant stakeholders to address the challenges faced in implementing programs for providing decent housing.
This meeting was also attended by the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin, Acting Regent of Cianjur Tb. Mulyana Syahrudin, Director General of Housing Iwan Suprijanto, Director General of Audit IV Syamsudin, Heads of offices, high-officials, and heads of working units from the Housing Provision Implementation Center for Java Region II, and high-officials of Directorate General of Audit IV.
