BPK Conveys Four Issues of Concern in Financial Statements on Provincial Government of Banten Fiscal Year 2023

BANTEN, BPK Public Relations – Having achieved an Unqualified opinion on the Financial Statements (LK) for fiscal year 2023, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) urged the Provincial Government of Banten to pay attention to four issues identified.

This was conveyed by Board Member V of BPK, Ahmadi Noor Supit when submitting the Audit Reports on the Financial Statements of Regional Government (LKPD) of Provincial Government of Banten for fiscal year 2023 at the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Banten Province office on Friday (5/4). Ahmadi Noor Supit handed the Audit Reports to the Speaker of DPRD of Banten Province Andra Soni, and Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar.

The first issue is the inefficient management of surface water tax. Seventeen companies are using surface water without obtaining a Surface Water Intake and Utilization Permit (SIPPA), resulting in the Provincial Government of Banten missing out on surface water tax revenue.

Other issues were the use of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds in five education units that were not in accordance with the provisions, the realization of capital expenditures for buildings and roads, irrigation and networks did not fully meet the contract specifications, and the management of fixed assets was not fully adequate.

The Unqualified opinion given by BPK on the Financial Statements of the Provincial Government of Banten in 2023 is based not only on the audit results, but also on the implementation of the action plan developed to follow-up the previous audit recommendations.

"This achievement should motivate local governments to continue to strive to improve accountability and transparency in regional financial management, as well as the quality of the financial statements presented," he pleaded.

In addition, Board Member V of BPK emphasized the need of effective and efficient use of the State Budget (APBN)/Regional Budget (APBD), with the goal of improving the quality of life of the community.

"Every rupiah allocated through the APBN/APBD is not just a number in the financial statements, but a representation of public trust and public expectations of improving their quality of life," he said.

Director General of Audit V Slamet Kurniawan, Vice Speaker and Members of the DPRD of Banten Province, Coordination Forum for Regional Heads (Forkopimda) of Banten Province, Head of BPK Regional Office in Banten Province Dede Sukarjo, as well as leaders of vertical agencies and partners of BPK Regional Office in Banten Province attended the event.
