Submitting Audit Reports, BPK Emphasizes on Permanent Long-Term Investment in DIY Provincial Government

YOGYAKARTA, BPK Public Relations - The Audit Board of the Republic Indonesia (BPK) has completed an audit on the Financial Statements of Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Provincial Government Fiscal Year 2023. Based on the audit, Board Member V of BPK Ahmadi Noor Supit conveyed that BPK provides Unqualified Opinion with an emphasis of a matter paragraph.

“BPK emphasizes permanent long-term investment records on the financial statements of DIY Provincial Government,” said Board Member V of BPK during the submission of the audit report on the Financial Statements of DIY Provincial Government Fiscal Year 2023 on the DIY Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Plenary Meeting on Thursday (4/4) in Yogyakarta.

Board Member V of BPK handed the audit report on the Financial Statements of DIY Provincial Government Fiscal Year 2023 in person by to the Leader of DIY DPRD and the Governor DIY Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono (HB) X. Director General of Audit V Slamet Kurniawan and Head of BPK Regional Office in DIY Widhi Widayat also attended the meeting.

On this occasion, Board Member V of BPK also conveyed several audit results-related issues that require further attention, especially those related to internal control and compliance with statutory regulations.

First, there are payments of subsidy components to Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMDs) that are not for the intended purposes. Second, certain grant beneficiaries of livestock have not disclosed their use of funds, and Department of Agriculture and Food Security has not prepared reports on the results of monitoring and evaluation of livestock grant activities.

Third, the management of Ketandan’s parking space levy is not yet focused on generating a reasonable profit. Board Member V of BPK said that the realization of parking levy income was only Rp325.15 million, which was insufficient to cover operational costs of Rp1.08 billion.

“This problem occurs because DIY Provincial Government has not evaluated the feasibility of parking space levy rates and management of spending operation priorities by paying attention to reasonable profit orientation through efficient business services and market price orientation,” he explained.

On the same occasion, the Leader of DIY DPRD explained that BPK Audit Report plays an important role in realizing transparency and accountability in regional financial management. According to him, the transparency and accountability realized through BPK audit results may increase public trust in regional government and give them confident that public funds are being spent responsibly and efficiently.

Moreover, the Governor DIY also emphasized that the DIY Provincial Government is committed to improving the quality of regional financial management. This is in line with the democratic and good governance principles which prioritize public engagement and accountability to the community.
