BPK Saves State Finances Amounting to IDR13,66 Trillion During the First Semester of 2024
Jakarta, Tuesday (October 22, 2024) - The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) managed to save state finances amounting to IDR13.66 trillion during the first semester of 2024. The savings came from IDR11,09 trillion in deposits to the state treasury amounting, as well as IDR2,57 trillion in state spending through corrections to electricity subsidies/compensation in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
This is in accordance with the audit results contained in the Summary of Semester Audit Reports of the First Semester of 2024 (IHPS I 2024), which was submitted by the Chair of BPK Isma Yatun to the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta, today (22/10). Officially, the IHPS I 2024 has been submitted to the Speaker of the DPR through Letter of Chair of BPK Number 139/S/I/9/2024 dated September 30, 2024.
The IHPS I 2024 is a summary of 738 audit reports completed by BPK during the first semester of 2024, consisting of 700 financial audit reports, 3 performance audit reports, and 35 special purpose audit reports. The IHPS I 2024 also includes BPK’s monitoring results on audit recommendations follow-up, state loss settlement, the use of investigative audit reports, and state losses calculation, and Providing Expert Testimony.
For the audit report on the Financial Statements of Central Government (LKPP) for fiscal year 2023, BPK provided an Unqualified Opinion on 79 financial statements of ministries/institutions and one financial statements of State General Treasurer, as well as a Qualified Opinion on four financial statements of ministries/institutions. BPK also audited four financial statements from other entities, including the Annual Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia, the Financial Statements of Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Financial Statements of Hajj Financial Management, all of which obtained Unqualified Opinion. Meanwhile, the financial statements of Financial Services Authority for fiscal year 2023 obtained a Qualified Opinion.
Based on BPK’s monitoring results on audit recommendations follow-up from 2005 to semester I of 2024, 78% of the recommendations have been followed up. “BPK recommendations will provide a much broader impact when there is synergy, support, and commitment from DPR as the main counterpart of BPK to jointly realize the oversight function within the accountability chain of state financial governance,” said Isma Yatun in her speech.
IHPS I 2024 also revealed BPK's role in improving state financial governance, among others, through the disclosure of inefficiency and ineffectiveness problems amounting to IDR1,55 trillion. Furthermore, BPK has a commitment to support the eradication of corruption through investigative audit and the calculation of state losses amounting to IDR644 billion.
In addition, BPK delivered strategic recommendations, among others, related to non-compliance issues, the quality of planning, implementation, and reporting of government activities or programs.
