BPK’s Important Role In Supporting SDGs Implementation

GIANYAR, BPK Public Relations – As part of the global community, Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) can play an important role in supporting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is done through relevant program audits and in accordance with government mandates, which are based on the four INTOSAI approaches set in INCOSAI XXII.

Therefore, in order to support the 2030 SDGs agenda, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) and Training Operating Unit in Bali, organized a training entitled Training on Auditing SDGs: Energy Transition As Part of Green Economy, which was supported by the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Audit.

This was conveyed by the Vice Chair of BPK Hendra Susanto, when he opened the training held at the auditorium of Training Operating Unit in Bali on Monday (27/11).

According to the Vice Chair, a paradigm shift towards a green economy is crucial for environmental preservation, combating climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as providing energy security and ensuring a more sustainable and equitable future for everyone.

He believed that SAI can play a role in promoting a green economy by ensuring the efficient, transparent, accountable and effective use of public resources in all environmental and sustainable development initiatives.

"SAI can measure the performance and results of government programs and policies in promoting green economy, then assess whether the initiatives have achieved their environmental and economic goals, and report findings and make recommendations to government agencies and policy makers to improve the design and implementation of environmental and sustainability programs," explained the Vice Chair of BPK.

The Vice Chair also elaborated that BPK is committed to developing a global center of excellence that encourages global knowledge exchange, professional development, and innovation.

The international training is expected to demonstrate the role of BPK as a model in auditing energy transition. The results of BPK’s environmental, renewable energy, and climate change audits are also expected to be a reference materials and input for the international community through the SAI of other countries.
