Receiving Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia Year 2022, BPK Starts Financial and Special Purposed Audit

JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations – Rapid changes to the financial landscape and financial system certainly become a challenge for Bank Indonesia. Chairperson of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Isma Yatun says that BPK should also carry out some anticipatory and responsive actions to changes in provisions related to Bank Indonesia in the Law on Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (PPSK).

“Especially related to further regulation of the scope of BPK audit on digital Rupiah management which includes planning, issuance, distribution, and administration,” said Chairperson at Submission of Annual Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia Year 2022 (unaudited) in the BPK auditorium on Tuesday, (31/1).

“This is related to the fact that the stages of printing, issuance, and extermination that are the mandate of BPK audits, as stated in Law Number 7 Year 2011 on the Currency, only regulate the stages in the management of Paper Rupiah and Metal Rupiah,” she explained at the meeting attended by Bank Indonesia Goveror Perry Warjiyo, Board Member II of BPK, Daniel Lumban Tobing, and Director General of Audit II, Nelson Ambarita.

For this reason, Chairperson of BPK emphasizes that synergy between Bank Indonesia and BPK is necessary to ensure that the quantum leap in digitalization is accompanied by transparency as an integral part of best practices in monetary policy.

Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia Year 2022 is directly handed by Bank Indonesia Governor to Chairperson of BPK, accompanied by Board Member II of BPK and witnessed by Board of Governor of Bank Indonesia, as well as high-level officials and auditors of Directorate General of Audit II. On this opportunity, BPK appreciates Bank Indonesia Governor and all of his officials for submitting the Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia to BPK in a timely manner.

On the same opportunity, the submission is continued with entry meeting of Audit on Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia Year 2022 and Special Purposed Audit on Printing, Issuance, and Extermination of Rupiah Year 2022. The entry meeting is led by Board Member II of BPK, Daniel Lumban Tobing.

Board Member II of BPK says that the Special Purposed Audit on Printing, Issuance, and Extermination of Rupiah will support the audit on the Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia Year 2022. This is because the impact of the implementation of printing, issuance, and extermination of Rupiah will be reflected in the accounts of the financial statements.

He further explains that, after BPK receives the Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia (unaudited) Year 2022, the audit will then officially begin today. Furthermore, BPK will submit its Audit Reports on Financial Statements of Bank Indonesia Year 2022 to Parliament and Special Purposed Audit Reports on Printing, Issuance, and Extermination of Rupiah Year 2022 to Bank Indonesia no later than 28 April 2023.

“Considering the fairly tight audit schedule, we ask for commitment from all levels of Bank Indonesia who are related to BPK audit. It is expected that the relevant levels are able to adjust the implementation of their duties. As a consequence, BPK audit will run and complete in accordance with the set targets,” emphasized Board Member II of BPK.
