Signing the MoU, BPK and UAEAA Strengthen Their Bilateral Cooperation

ABU DHABI, BPK Public Relations – The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) and the United Arab Emirates Accountability Authority (UAEAA) have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday (19/6) at the UAEAA head office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The MoU was signed by Chair of BPK Isma Yatun and Chair of UAEAA Humaid Obaid Abushibs.

Chair of BPK, in her remarks, stated that the signing of the MoU represents a strategic and formal commitment from both institutions to enhance cooperation in public sector auditing.

“This MoU acts as a comprehensive framework for cooperation, enabling the sharing of knowledge and experience, whole also supporting a range of joint initiatives aimed at enhancing capacity and professionalism in public sector auditing,” said Isma.

BPK and UAEAA have built strong institutional ties through their collaborative involvement in various international forums, including INTOSAI and ASOSAI. Both institutions are actively involved in various working groups such as Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA), Working Group on the Fight Against Corruption and Money Laundering (WG FACML), Working Group on the Impact of Science and Technology on Auditing (WG ISTA), as well as the activities of INTOSAI Development Initiatives (IDI). Under the ASOSAI framework, both BPK and UAEAA are members of Working Group on Environmental Auditing, in which UAEAA serves as a member of the ASOSAI and INTOSAI Governing Boards.

The visit of the UAEAA delegation to BPK Head Office in Jakarta in January 2025 marked a significant milestone in enhancing this partnership, with the present of the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia. The current relationship with the UAE Embassy in Jakarta further strengthens the bond between the two institutions.

Under this MoU, BPK and UAEAA have committed to increase their cooperation in several strategic areas, including anti-corruption initiatives, information technology audits, legal frameworks strengthening, and addressing food security challenges. This cooperation encompasses joint training programs, exchange initiatives, and the development of audit methodologies based on global best practices.

The signing of this MoU is expected to lay the groundwork for a transformative partnership that enhances both institutions’ roles to promoting accountable, transparent, and effective public financial management at national, regional, and international levels.
