Strengthen Global Collaboration and Accountability: Chair of BPK Attends SAI20 Summit 2025 in Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG, BPK Public Relations – Chair of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Isma Yatun, attended SAI20 Summit 2025, a gathering of heads of supreme audit institutions (SAIs) from G20 member states, held on 24–25 June 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of South Africa served as both the host and Chair of SAI20 2025, succeeding SAI Brazil (2024), SAI India (2023), and BPK, which initiated and chaired the SAI20 in 2022. The Summit was attended by SAIs from G20 member states, including Saudi Arabia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Russia, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates. Furthermore, several SAIs from invited countries also participated, including Djibouti, Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, Norway, Morocco, Egypt, and Spain. AFROSAI-E, the regional group also attended the meeting.

The SAI20 Summit 2025 put the values of solidarity, equality, and sustainability at the front, in line with G20 theme and South Africa’s “ubuntu” ethos, which emphasizes human interconnectedness and global solidarity. Two priority issues discussed at SAI20 were “Public Infrastructure Funding” and a “Future-Ready Workforce.” Through the SAI20 Communiqué, participants have agreed on the importance of strengthening collaboration among audit institutions, encompassing both from G20 member states and other countries. This seeks to support democratic processes, enhance accountability, and provide strategic input to governments in order to promote inclusive welfare.

In her statement, Chair of BPK emphasized that addressing the challenges of infrastructure development requires an integrated long-term funding strategy, encompassing public investment, private sector engagement, and international collaboration. She also highlighted the significance of cross-sector collaboration to prepare a resilient and adaptive workforce, as a shared responsibility.

BPK also contributed as a panelist in a discussion on “The Influence of SAIs in Bridging the Skills Gap for a Future-Ready Workforce,” which focused on the role of SAIs in supporting government initiatives to bridge skills gaps through audits.

As part of the series of the SAI20 Summit 2025, BPK also held bilateral meetings with SAI South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, South Korea, Egypt, Russia, Brazil, Morocco, Türkiye, and Norway to strengthen cooperative ties among audit institutions.
