BPK Presents Results of the 13th ASOSAI Research Project at the 16th ASOSAI Assembly
INDIA, BPK Public Relations – Chair of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) Isma Yatun attended the 16th ASOSAI Assembly in New Delhi, India, on September 23-27, 2024. During this event, BPK presented the results of the 13th ASOSAI Research Project entitled "Remote Audit for SAI: Future and Challenges" at both the 60th ASOSAI Governing Board Meeting and the 16th ASOSAI Assembly. BPK also extended its appreciation to the seventeen Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) that contributed to the project. The Assembly approved by the research as an official output of ASOSAI.
The Assembly, attended by 192 participants from 44 SAIs, featured BPK's explanation of several key findings from the research. One of the main points was that remote audits leverage information technology and data analytics to collect evidence without requiring the auditor's physical presence. While this approach introduces additional risks, it also offers greater efficiency and flexibility. Before conducting a remote audit, audit quality standards must be adhered to, one of which is by conducting a feasibility study to ensure that audit quality is not jeopardized.
BPK also received the ASOSAI Journal Award at the Assembly for its contribution to the April 2021 edition of the ASOSAI journal with the article titled "Public Infrastructure Audit Strategy: BPK's Experience." This award recognizes BPK’s role in advancing public infrastructure audits.
In addition, BPK was also a speaker at the ASOSAI symposium on BPK's contribution to improving Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in Indonesia, which highlighted BPK's audit of e-government in 2018-2019. The presentation highlighted the beneficial impact of the audit, which led to Indonesia's rising ranking in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI), rising from 107th in 2018 to 64th in 2024.
On the sidelines of the ASOSAI Assembly, BPK held bilateral meetings with SAIs from Malaysia, Korea, Cambodia, China, Saudi Arabia, Lao PDR, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Oman, and Mongolia. These meetings aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss potential future collaborations.
The Assembly also elected members of the ASOSAI Governing Board (GB) and Audit Committee (AC) for the 2024-2027 period. The newly elected GB members are SAIs from Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and the UAE. Meanwhile, SAI Iran and SAI Vietnam were elected as AC members.
BPK's active participation in ASOSAI demonstrates its commitment to international engagement, contributing to broader impacts both for BPK and the global community. Accompanying the Chair of BPK at the meeting were the Director General of the BPK Training Institute on State Finance Audit, R. Yudi Ramdan Budiman, Director of Policy Analysis on State Finance, Selvia Vivi Devianti, and Director of Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau, Teguh Widodo.
