BPK Public Relations Should Implement An Appropriate And Effective Communication Strategy
JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations – Digital revolution has altered many things, not only the way people consume information, but also the way people interact with one another, including transforming the relationship between government and its citizens.
As a dynamic organization, Chair of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) Isma Yatun said that BPK should respond the phenomenon by implementing an appropriate and effective strategy.
“BPK should respond to the phenomenon by implementing an appropriate and effective strategy considering that the development has an impact on its relations with the stakeholders,” said Chair of BPK in the Coordination Meeting of BPK Public Relations Year 2023 held at BPK Head Office on Monday (23/10).
Chair of BPK therefore encouraged BPK to have the readiness and guidance to communicate the information appropriately to the public. This is because conveying an inappropriate message can be counterproductive to the credibility and implementation of BPK duties.
“As information gatekeeper, BPK public relations personnel play a critical role in preventing the spread of misinformation and disinformation within BPK, as well as building and maintaining a positive public image, for both internal and external parties,” she said.
“Conveying inappropriate messages or information will be counterproductive to the credibility and implementation of BPK duties,” Chair of BPK added at the Coordination Meeting with a theme “A Synergy of BPK Public Relations to Realize an Effective Communication Strategy”.
In line with Chair of BPK, Vice Chair of BPK Hendra Susanto said that BPK public relations should be more intense and increase the dissemination of positive information related to duties, function, and performance of BPK. According to him, all BPK public relations personnel, both central and representative offices, might use social media to better familiarize the public with BPK.
“An effective and efficient communication is created with narratives that are easily understood by the public,” said Vice Chair of BPK.
The two-day coordination meeting conducted on 23-24 October 2023, was meant to promote synergy in the implementation of BPK public relations duties, in both BPK head office and representative offices. The meeting was also intended to be able to coordinate BPK’s goals, targets, strategies, and public relations initiatives so that they could support each other and be sustainable.
The coordination meeting presented a number keynoted speakers, including Commissioner of the Central Information Commission (KIP) Samrotunnajah Ismail, Head of the Information Bureau of the National Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Police Ahmad Ramadhan, Associate Expert at the Presidential Staff Office Prita Laura, and Communication Strategy Consultant, Fardila Astari.
The meeting was attended by Secretary General Bahtiar Arif and other high-level officials of BPK, Director General of Public Relations and International Cooperation R. Yudi Ramdan Budiman, Heads of BPK Representative Offices, public relations personnel from all BPK Representative Offices and other invitees.
