BPK RI and SAO Thailand Strengthen Commitment and Collaboration in Public Sector Audit

BANGKOK, BPK Public Relations - The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) and the State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand (SAO Thailand) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen commitment and collaboration in public sector auditing, as well as strengthen synergy and cooperation between the two institutions. The signing was carried out by Chair of BPK Isma Yatun and Auditor General of SAO Thailand Mr. Monthien Charoenpol at the SAO Thailand office, Bangkok, Wednesday (18/9).

In addition to the signing of the MoU, BPK RI and SAO Thailand also held a discussion on cultural variations in audit methodologies. On the occasion, BPK RI presented the study results on the impact of cultural diversity on the audit process at the BPK Representative Office and its solutions. BPK also studied SAO Thailand's experience in designing performance audit programs, especially in the field of public services.

“Through this bilateral discussion, the two SAIs are expected to gain valuable experience from each other, broaden areas of cooperation, and develop innovative solutions in the field of public audit and oversight. The results of this discussion are also expected to strengthen partnership between BPK RI and SAO Thailand, as well as provide a broad positive impact on us,” Isma Yatun explained during a courtesy meeting with President of the State Audit Commission General Chanathap Indamra.

The cooperative relationship between BPK and SAO Thailand has been established since both became members of the Asian Organizations of Supreme Audit Institution (ASOSAI) and the founder of ASEAN Supreme Audit Institution (ASEANSAI).

In August 2023, SAO Thailand conducted a study visit to BPK RI to discuss the development of training and education centres, auditing during Covid-19, SAI foresight, information technology utilization and SAI adaptation in the new normal era. This activity has provided many benefits for both institutions, including increasing insight and knowledge of public sector auditing.

This meeting is a continuation of joint efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and increase the capacity of both institutions in carrying out audit functions. Through the signing of the MoU and this productive discussion, BPK RI and SAO Thailand hope to expand the scope of useful cooperation, and have a positive impact on the development of public sector auditing in both countries.

Director General of Audit III Edward Ganda Hasiholan Simanjuntak, Director of Public Relations and International Cooperation Teguh Widodo, Deputy Director of Information Management Section Sri Haryati and Supervisor of Bilateral Cooperation Subdivision Sylvia Ika Oktavi also attended the event.
