CHILE, BPK Public Relations - BPK was elected as Chair of the Panel of External Auditors of the United Nations, the Specialized Agencies and the International Atomic Energy Agency for a year period of December 2022 – December 2023. The successful accomplishment was achieved following its nomination by Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) member of the panel of external auditors in 62^nd Regular Session. Organized in hybrid format, the 62^nd Regular Session of the Panel of External Auditors took place on 28-29 November 2022 in Santiago, Chili.

As many as 11 Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) member of the panel, consisting of Chile, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Philippines, Switzerland, Russia, and United Kingdom attended the session and participated in the election in person. Meanwhile, SAI of Ghana made virtual participation.

The Rules of Procedures (RoP) of the Panel of External Auditor states that the officers of the Panel shall be a Chair and a Vice-Chair. These officers shall be elected by the members at the end of each regular session to serve until the end of the next regular session. Further, the RoP also mentions that the offices of Chair and Vice-Chair of the Panel shall at all times be held by a member of the UN Board of Auditors which, this year, SAI of France is appointed as Vice-Chair of the Panel. Different from previous election mechanism, Chair and Vice-Chair of the Panel are elected based on nomination proposed by the members, the self-nomination is no longer used.​

Elected as Chair of the Panel of External Auditor, BPK will carry out duties and functions, chairing 63^rd Regular Session of the Panel of External Auditors that will take place on 20-21 November 2023 in UN Headquarter in New York, United States of America. The chairmanship of BPK in the Panel of External Auditors of the United Nations is a solid prove that BPK is trusted by international community for having both capacities and capabilities of a professional Supreme Audit Institution.
