National Thematic Performance Audit of National Priority 6 Begins, BPK Targets Improvement in Environmental Quality and Disaster Resilience
JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations - The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) held a kick off meeting of the working group (Pokja) of the national thematic performance audit on national priority (PN) 6 and a workshop on the preparation of a performance audit of the national thematic performance of PN 6, at the BPK Head Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/11).
In his remarks, Board Member VII of BPK Slamet Edy Purnomo said that this audit aims to assess the efforts of the central government, local governments, and/or State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to address issues related to improving environmental quality, increasing disaster and climate resilience, and low carbon development.
“The performance audit includes a large number of work units as well as audited entities. This certainly increases the audit’s complexity and risk, both of which are quite high. For this reason, a working group of national thematic performance audit of national priority 6 has been formed to support the audit implementation,” explained Board Member VII of BPK.
Through this workshop, it is expected that all personnel involved in the Working Group have an adequate understanding of their duties and responsibilities within the Working Group structure, allowing them to contribute as much as possible to the audit.
The audit working group involves all Senior High-Ranking Officials and personnel representing each Directorate General of Audit (AKN) including BPK Regional Offices and other related work units.
“This shows that the Working Group has become a forum for our unity in an integrated audit process to achieve one goal, namely quality and useful audit results in order to increase transparency and accountability in state financial management, especially those related to National Priority 6,” he explained.
Furthermore, Board Member VII emphasized that the audit results are expected to address strategic issues arising in the community. This is important because a thematic performance audit is one that is closely related to people's lives in terms of the environment and natural disasters, both of which are important and current challenges faced by the government and society.
“BPK must be able to provide policy recommendations to all levels of government both vertically and horizontally, as audit related to the environment and disasters cannot be handled by government agencies partially,” he said.
Board Member VII of BPK hopes that the BPK’s audit recommendations must be followed up by considering all available resources and recommendations must be accompanied by clear and measurable indicators.
This activity was attended by Madya Senior High Leadership Officials, Primary High Leadership Officials and attended by 311 National Priority 6 auditors who attended offline and online meeting.
