Vice Chairman of BPK Elected as Vice Chair of IAAC United Nations

JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations – The Vice Chairman of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Agus Joko Pramono, as the member of the Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the United Nations IAAC) attended the virtual IAAC Meeting on 8 – 11 December 2020.

The four-day meeting included two agendas, the 5th Meeting of the United Nation System Oversight Committees on 8 - 9 December 2020 and the 52nd Independent Audit Advisory Committee on 10 - 11 December 2020.

Representing the Secretary General of the UN, Chef de Cabinet opened the first agenda of the meeting, the 5th Meeting of the United Nation System Oversight Committees. Annually organized by the IAAC, all of the oversight committees of the UN attended the meeting among 49 participants of the 22 Organizations of the UN.

The former US Comptroller General and first chair of IAAC, David Walker, delivered his views on the Future and Role of Oversight/Audit Committees in View of the Emerging Global Trends including COVID. In the discussion session, the participants actively involved in sharing their knowledge and best practices as well as lesson learned that they had been experiencing in the UN.

The Chair of IAAC, Janet St. Laurent led the second agenda of the IAAC meeting, the 52nd Independent Audit Advisory Committee. The Vice Chair of IAAC, Richard Quartei Quartey as well as all members of IAAC, Agus Joko Pramono, Dorothy Bradley, and Anton Kosyanenko participated in the meeting.

The meeting, the 52nd Independent Audit Advisory Committee, discussed the recent progress of the follow up to the recommendations made by the oversights organizations of the UN, the Board of Auditors (BoA) and the Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) in particular; the vacant managerial positions; the use of peace keeping budget and the 2021 budget plan; and the implementation status of the UMOJA.

The meeting agreed with decision to re-elect the current Chair of IAA Janet St. Laurent as the next Chair and to elect the Vice Chairman of BPK, Agus Joko Pramono, as the new Vice Chair of the IAAC effectively started on 1 January 2021.

The new role as the Vice Chairman of IAAC will bring a highlight to the BPK that has been committed to actively contribute, promote, and support the foreign policy to improve an excellent image of Indonesia in the international community.
