JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations -The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) participated in the Working Level Meeting of Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions Working Group on Environmental Auditing (ASOSAI WGEA) that was organized virtually on Monday (09/07/2020). The virtual meeting was attended by 53 (fifty-three) participants from 16 (sixteen) Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) member of ASOSAI WGEA. The representatives of the BPK attended the meeting were the Audit IV Team, Pitriyanti and Normas Andi Ahmad, as well as the International Cooperation Team.

SAI of China as the Chair of ASOSAI WGEA opened the meeting and presented the agenda that included the discussion on the 2020-2022 ASOSAI WGEA Work Plan, the Green Vision Awards, the progress of the projects such as cooperative audit on sustainable transport and research project on climate change, and the plan to organize training and seminar on environmental auditing.

Upon the commitment to the ASOSAI WGEA, BPK has been actively involved in various activities. The BPK participates in the Green Vision Awards of ASOSAI WGEA by submitting paper on the environmental auditing experience titleddquo;Performance Audit on Citarum Watershed Management and Pollution Control Activities: A Green Vision of BPK for Environmental Protection and Ecological Conservation.” In addition, BPK also has been a member of the Cooperative Audit on Sustainable Transport and the Research Project on Climate Change that are included in the 2020-2022 ASOSAI WGEA Work Plan.

During the discussion, representative of BPK and the representative of SAI of Philippines reminded that the research project on the climate change proposed by SAI of Thailand had been adopted by International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions Working Group on Environmental Auditing (INTOSAI WGEA). Therefore, to reduce redundancy and overlapping projects with the same topic, the ASOSAI WGEA might broaden to other environment related topics that would be an interest to the members. The representative of BPK also suggested that the ASOSAI WGEA might invite Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the kick-off meeting of either the research project on climate change or the cooperative audit on sustainable transport to get more inputs and suggestions as well as to better the planning and execution of the projects.

Having active participation in the ASOSAI WGEA, BPK has been more acknowledged and respected in the international community whilst at the same time, BPK may take the best benefits of knowledge and experience of other SAIs on the environmental auditing in particular.
