BPK Vice Chairman Speaking of Fraud Prevention in Covid-19 Response Acceleration on an ACFE Seminar

JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations - Vice Chairman of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) became a speaker on seminar series themed Fraud Prevention in Covid-19 Response Acceleration, which was held by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Indonesia Chapter on Saturday.

Vice Chairman shares BPK’s risk-based comprehensive audit on management and accountability of state finance in handling Covid-19 pandemic, one of which is the performance audit on Covid‐19 response conducted by the Ministry of Health. He further mentions that the audit is intended to determine government’s effectiveness in conducting testing, tracing, treatment, public education and socialization.

Problems found includes the inadequate support of information system to improve coordination and evaluation and the strengthening of human resources capacity to do testing and tracing.

"In addition, the key travel advice delivered by the Ministry of Health in order to change people's behavior is still insufficient," Vice Chairman said on the online seminar.

BPK’s performance audit on the health sector related to Covid-19 response Fiscal Year 2020 was also carried out on the Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) and other relevant agencies. Some of the findings reveal problems in administrative management and verification of Covid-19 claims. In addition, the distribution of costs to health facilities and the administration of membership and contribution assistance from the National Health Insurance (JKN) are not optimal. In view of this, the BPK has submitted its recommendations to be followed up by Ministry of Health and BPJS Kesehatan.

Attended by around 245 participants, the seminar also presented other resource persons, namely Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin and President Director of BPJS Kesehatan Ali Ghufron Mukti. It was opened by President of ACFE Indonesia Chapter Gatot Trihargo and moderated by Maliki Heru Santoso from ACFE Indonesia Chapter and Puti Aulia Rahma from the Center for Health Policy and Management, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing, Gadjah Mada University.
