Financial Audit is A Form of BPK’s Role and Responsibilities in Realizing State Financial Transparency and Accountability

Jakarta, BPK Public Relations - The Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia fulfils its constitutional mandate by auditing state financial management and accountability, including audits on the financial statements (LK).

Board Member II of BPK Daniel Lumban Tobing conveyed this to the Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan during the entry meeting for audit of the financial statements of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) fiscal year 2023 at Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta on Monday (12/2).

Board Member II of BPK stated that financial audits are part of the BPK’s role and responsibilities in realizing state financial transparency and accountability.

“Audit on the financial statements of the Ministry of Trade fiscal year 2023 include audit on Balance Sheet, Budget Realization Report (LRA), Operational Report (LO), Report on Changes in Equity (LPE), and Notes on the Financial Statements (CaLK),” he said.

Therefore, Board Member II of BPK hopes that all levels of the Ministry of Trade to prepare data and documents required by the BPK teams. Furthermore, BPK expects continued cooperation and support from all levels of the Ministry of Trade.

“We appreciate the good cooperation that has been established. We hope that this audit can be carried out effectively, efficiently and meet all of our expectations," he stressed.

Considering the limited time for the audits, BPK expects an acceleration in providing data and information, both offline and online from all levels of the Ministry of Trade.

The Minister of Trade responded to this by encouraging his officials to assist in the preparation of data required by BPK teams. Furthermore, the Minister of Trade hopes that the audits would give advice on what has to be done and improved during the audit process.

“We would like to thank the BPK audit teams for their advice and direction, as a result of which we received Unqualified Opinion (WTP). We hope to continue receiving Unqualified Opinion next year,” he said.

Director General of Audit II Nelson Ambarita, the financial audit teams of the Ministry of Trade fiscal year 2023, and high-level officials of the Ministry of Trade and BPK attended the meeting.
